Having travelled to Verona Italy, I had the opportunity to visit Elettrolaser for intense training on servicing and repairing of all laser welders including the Dado.

This involved stripping down the units to problem solve issues, run diagnostic checks to eliminate certain problematic components and the removal and inspection of the flash lamp and YAG crystal, cleaning and replacing front and back mirrors, focus lens, recalibrating the lenses to ensure the spot produced is perfectly round, simmer voltage check/calibration and adjustment.

I have repaired and serviced many laser welders within my 20+ years serving within the jewellery industry including other important machinery including Orion Pulse Welders, Steam Cleaners and Microwelders.

What is involved in a service?

Depending on the model, it will start off by checking all the perameters are correct and to make sure that the laser has not missed any shots. Then check the screen calibration to ensure it is responsive and hitting the correct settings. A test weld will be completed to ensure it is firing correctly and this enables to see if the on screen/microscope crosshairs are correctly aligned. The unit will have the outer case removed and cleaned of any dust or contaminants. The water level will be checked and topped up if required. The YAG chamber will then be opened and have the KVT removed and drained of coolant. The front and back mirrors can be cleaned without any obstruction. The flash lamp will then be carefully removed from the KVT and checked for frosting and thoroughly cleaned and then replaced. The gaskets will also be checked/replaced if necessary. The YAG crystal will also be removed and cleaned to make sure it absorbs 100% of the flash lamps light and again, gaskets will be replaced if needed. The KVT will be assembled and secured. The focus lens will be cleaned and inspected for any scarring and possibly replaced. The motor will be checked and lubricated. The outer lens will also be cleaned along with the microscope lenses. A test will then be performed to check the weld spot is round and adjusted, over time it can become oval which can cause issues when welding intricate areas.  The simmer voltage will then be checked and adjusted if required. Finally, the case will be fitted together and a final case clean and test.

How long will it take?

Usually for the Master S and Orion LZR100 models will approximately take around 3 hours to complete and with the Dado between 1 to 2 hours.

How much does it cost?

For the Orion LZR 100 & Elettrolaser Master S models, servicing is £650.00 and £300.00 for the DaDo welder.

If you are located within the West Midlands, there will be no travel charge but there will be a charge of 0.45p per mile outside of the West Midlands.
